Spoken Word Event with ONE BILLION RISING

Join us for our monthly Spoken Word Event in The SEED Café, hosted by Samantha Stocker-Harding, on February 10th from 7.00pm.

This month we are collaborating with One Billion Rising, a global campaign, founded by V (Formerly known as Eve Ensler) to stop sexual violence against women and girls. It was started in 2012 as part of the V-Day movement. The “billion” refers to the UN statistic that one in three women will be raped or beaten in her lifetime, or about one billion.
SEED Founder Lynne Franks was UK chair for One Billion Rising for several years and created high profile events to raise awareness in Trafalgar Square, Marble Arch and The Albert Hall. One Billion Rising uses the voices of women and men in song, dance and spoken word to spread their message.

Our February Spoken Word Event is open to all new and existing Poets, Rappers, Storytellers, Writers and Musicians; at our inspiring open mic poetry night in the heart of Wincanton, Somerset. This is a chance to listen, relax and indulge in some poetry and performances; or come and share and express your own magic! All material is welcome as our Spoken Word event will flow as normal.

Free entry – doors open at 7pm, performances begin at 7:30pm. Drinks are available throughout the evening but food is no longer being served.
