Witches of Wincanton
Wincanton History Day
10 am – 4 pm Saturday 4th March
In 1664 a number of worthy Wincanton women were wrongly accused and convicted as witches and followers of the devil. This horrific pursuit of wise women happened everywhere across the United Kingdom in this time of violence and fear. It is time now for a deep commitment that this kind of persecution of wise women, midwives, healers and herbalists will never happen again.
